What are loving this week?
Guinea pig and sloths are aaadorable! Racoon one is hilarious, I have seen cat doing the same a while ago. "I'm overweight and my boyfriend is not" article is wicked, thanks for sharing. This TiLT is amazing!xxx
ReplyDeleteLMAO OMG I love those Guinea Pig pics. So funny. The one I had never would have stood still long enough for that.
ReplyDeleteThat watercolor tattoo is gorgeous!
Oh my goodness... the commentary on the Millenials article is AMAZING! As an individual who often feels like all my two bachelor's degrees got me was $24,000 in debt (and I even had scholarships!) I totally feel what they're saying. As I work a full time job, a part time job, and work on my Master's Degree full time at the age of 25 there is NO way I could afford a brand new car or a mortgage. Not to mention my student loan debt screwed up my debt to income ratio! Then I look at my parents who were married and had two kids by the time they were my age... Such a short time for such a huge difference, thanks for sharing!

So crazy isn't it?! It makes me so worried for Toby's generation!
DeleteI find the marijuana Moms article really interesting, and I'm glad that it's something that is being spoken about more openly. Nobody bats an eye to a mother who has a glass of wine with dinner (or more, I think of depictions of 1950's housewives with their martini, baking away in the kitchen (as opposed to baking and baking?)) but pot, as far as it has come in recent years in terms of social acceptance, is still leagues behind alcohol.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I smoke pot, and I do see it as something I would maintain, within reason (and never when harmful to another; I'm not going to be pregnant and toking, or with a young babe-in-arms) as my preferred unwind drug of choice. I do see where the effects of marijuana can make more accessible and enjoyable activities geared toward the very very young; I have a little sister 12 years my junior, and I can name a few instances where I was THIS close to hucking a TV out the window because kids shows are just THAT annoying.
So, the way I see it: taking your kids to the park? Have a toke, play on the swings, and have an enthralling round of tag or hide and go seek.
Driving your kids to soccer practice? Always drive substance free, your cargo is mighty precious. There's a time and a place for everything.
Thanks so much for chiming in, Erin! I was hoping someone would address it :) I agree 110% with you. Of course I think that if you even smoke cigarettes in the vicinity of a small child, you're essentially guilty of neglect (come on! They would never want to be subjected to that) so naturally I'd feel the same with marijuana. However I think it's far less dangerous than alcohol, much like you mentioned. I think it'll be interesting to see where the next several years takes us in terms of marijuana regulation. Of course I also wonder how they might be able to give a sobriety test for marijuana. I don't condone anyone driving under the influence of any substance, but you'd think that'd be a topic of conversation.
DeleteI definitely think that the lack of screening and on-site testing (like the breathalyzer) is seriously holding back marijuana law reform. As someone who's partial to the wacky tobaccy, I would really like to see some breakthroughs in this department, especially for application to address impaired driving, as well as age restriction. I'm very much of the idea that pot and alcohol should be similarly regulated. I do feel that because there's a lack of discussion on the topic outside of militant believers of both parties, that we simply aren't pushing for the research and development into these areas. I think if more moderate, average people were talking about it more openly, and could dissolve that stigma surrounding the topic,
Delete(I find this particularly apparent in the blogosphere, and I'm admittedly guilty of censoring, so do forgive my babbling) that we could make significant strides in the safety issues inherent with this and any substance. The US has come a long way in this department recently (as a Canadian, I really can't believe that y'all are beating us there. How?!), and it's a trend I hope to see continue, always with safety at the bow.
Wow. This post is just an overload of awesome all around. First and foremost Wendy Davis is the bomb.. and I'm glad this happened in my great state of Texas! I was watching it happen live and could not believe it. The aftermath was also super confusing.
ReplyDeleteI love that pom pom installation. The necklace you got is soooo amazing! The 23 things we all do.. totally can relate to some of those, maybe. The cheapest Generation comment was awesome. I totally agree. We are paying for things that didn't exist in a non-existent job market :(
I always look forward to Thursdays so I can read your TILTs! Seriously, the cat in the first picture? Sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
-Kati
So glad you enjoy them, Kati!
DeleteAnimals missing their jumps is the funniest and cutest thing in the world, and I don't really like guinea pigs but those pictures were too funny. The SF hall being lit up like that is monumental and I love it. It warms my heart. The marijuana moms thing is something that doesn't even NEED to be an issue.. pointless. People are gonna do what they want to do.

Great list! The city hall look incredible. I'm sorry I couldn't/can't see it in person! Waaa.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Marijuana Moms article was really interesting! I don't know if 5 hits a day is particularly responsible while home with your kids, but hey, put them to bed and hit the pipe. I would never advocate getting high when you have to watch your child, especially at the pool where accidents can so easily happen. And, like someone said, smoking and driving is a terrible idea. But I do hope one day the US will get it together and find a way to legalize/regulate.
ReplyDeleteOH GOD!! The sloth video is hands down the cutest thing I have ever seen! When he grabs on to his little pal at the end!! <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteI have been craving donuts non-freakin'-stop lately and I'm on a managed calorie diet so it is an impossible craving. Not to mention that the donuts I have access to don't look as appetizing as these. There is a lot of cute in this post too.
ReplyDeleteI am a bit on the fence about marijuana moms, I support marijuana usage and don't understand the big deal people make about it, however I've never used it myself... not even once. My Dad smoked marijuana a lot when I was younger and the only thing I wish had been done differently was for it not have been done directly in front of me because it just confused me, my Mom was very anti-drug and lead me to believe that my Dad was "killing" himself with pot (although he did do other drugs just not around my brother and I). I was too young to realize how harmless marijuana was. The U.S really needs to get it together on marijuana, do people really need to spend time in jail for smoking pot? It is ridiculous. I do still hate the smell though, I just don't care for the smell which is the main reason I've never tried it. That and I'm lame and have been offered it twice, ever.
