Normally Summer is a time where I'm all care free with my hair, letting it do it's thing, and not fussing with a curling iron too terribly much. To be totally honest, my hair is in a messy top knot 95% of the time... especially during the hotter months. Between beach vacations, swimming pools, and good ol' fashioned sweat, my hair can usually use some TLC. Chlorine damaged hair? I've got it. Sun damaged hair? Yep. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love trying out new hair care products. I'm not a fancy girl by any stretch of the imagination, so dropping crazy cash on salon products isn't normally my thing. Offer me up the chance to try out a new shampoo or conditioner and I'm game though! You should see how many magazine samples I have haha! When I think of Neutrogena I don't exactly go straight to "hair care"... Instead I think about 8th grade me with an acne-ridden face. So color me intrigued when they launched their new Triple Repair hair line.
Instead of waxing poetic about all three items in the Triple Repair series, I'm just going to jump straight to the "piece de la resistance"... the leave-in treatment. I love me some deep conditioning treatments but I avoid leave-in stuff like the plague. Why? Because that's a sure fire way for me to end up wearing a greasy mop on top of my noggin. But after nearly 2 weeks at the beach, my hair needed something. ANYTHING! It was in rough shape... I used the shampoo and conditioner a few times before trying in the leave-in treatment and I totally think you benefit more when you use all 3 products at once. I put a nice little dollop of the leave-in cream in my palms and then worked it into my damp hair after towel drying it ever so slightly. Then I went about my business and let it air-dry the rest of the way. (I hate blow drying my hair because I feel like that just adds to my hair breakage. Ugh!) My hair was dry by the time I went to bed, but I don't remember paying it much mind. When I woke up though... snap! My hair was shiny and so so soft. Remember how I said my hair is normally in a top knot? Well my hair was actually so soft and smooth that I couldn't make it hold it's top knot shape without a hair tie (Yep, my hair is often so dry that it can just be tied up on it's own haha Embarrassing.)
Anyway, Neutrogena claims that their Triple Repair series makes hair three times stronger after just one use, and I can at least attest to the fact I had less breakage happening. I didn't scientifically measure it or anything, but I'm pretty stoked on the outcome. It mends split ends, strengthens brittle hair, and protects from future breakage... all things that I know entirely too much about. If you fancy yourself a hot hair tools user, it can help protect hair against heat styling over 400 degrees F, too.

Hair color is the biggest issue since my hair's too short to straighten, but hot tools are a big one when it's longer.

I think my sponge rollers are a big threat to my hair. Even with using end papers, I feel like it saps out any softness I have left
ReplyDeleteStress and climate change (not THAT kind of climate change). Not only have I been losing my hair because of stress due to university and finances. On top of that, I had one solid year of summer (moving from Tennessee to Sydney, Australia) and I'm about to have one solid year of winter (moving from Sydney back to Tennessee) which has just taken its toll on my poor hair as well as the texture and colour (before white blonde, now a mix of white, gold, and red).
ReplyDeleteoctober.holcomb@gmail.com
Definitely blow drying for me. My hair is super long and takes forever to air dry, so I unfortunately have to use some heat styling. :(

The biggest threat to my hair is coloring it, bleaching to be precise.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness i've never met anyone else who can actually just tie a knot in their hair! I do that too and people are always fascinated by it. Although I credit the curly texture of my hair as being the reason lol.
ReplyDeleteRight now my biggest hair threat is the fact that I just dyed it blue for the summer and that wasn't the bad thing, the scary threat will be getting it back to a normal color before work starts up again at the end of August!
