Did everyone have a lovely holiday weekend?! Well, a holiday weekend for the US folks at least? haha Mike spent most of the weekend helping my stepdad with their shed building, and we celebrated my sweet Nana's 81st (or 82nd... she's not sure!) birthday. My parents had a little get together at their house last night and we just took it easy. It's pretty silly when the most exciting thing you've done all weekend is find a new show to blast through on Netflix. (It's Traffic Light, for those of you wondering. Sadly only one season!) Last night Mike and I huddled around the kitchen table with Toby and helped him with his "Family Tree" project for school. I think homework for a 4 year old is hilarious, but we had a lot of fun making it. I'll have to snap a photo to share because it's pretty adorable. Isn't it crazy to think it's already September? People are going gaga over pumpkin everything and they're gearing up for sweaters and scarves. I'm all for it, don't get me wrong. But I feel like it's also so sad to rush out of Summer. I hate the heat and humidity as much as the next person, but I know I'm going to be sad as soon as I see bare trees. I 100% believe that the seasons have a lot to do with your mood. Or at least mine! Autumn is gorgeous in Tennessee, but it also flies by in the blink of an eye.
These photos are from a couple of weeks back, but this outfit has been in high rotation lately. The dress itself is super lightweight and easy to wear. I wore it 90% of our Florida vacation, and then again in Vegas. I snagged it via Stitch Fix a while back and man, I think this dress has gotten me more compliments than any other dress I own. The little mesh panels at the bottom are such a fun touch. I also love the pattern play on the dress. It makes me feel like a big patchwork quilt, but not in a tacky way. The big purse is a score from Charming Charlie last year, and of course my trusty ol MIA wedges.
I know there's nothing outright amazing about this photo location, but I really love the amount of light that floods in at mid-day. I'm thinking it'd look even more beautiful on film! I'd love to get some photo clients to meet us for a shoot in Lawrenceburg. There are so many amazing buildings and backdrops around downtown. I say that almost every time I post photos from Lawrenceburg, but it's true. I'm so tempted to always drive there for photos haha
Over the weekend we decided to plan an upcoming little trip to Wilmington, North Carolina. For those of you who haven't been reading long enough, Wilmington is where Mike and I got engaged in 2012, and it's also where two of my very best friends just moved. We've wanted to move there for a few years now, but we're hoping it's somewhere in our future. They have the best little sushi shop, and one of our favorite out-of-town bars. It's going to be SO good to see Elle and Bryan, too! We're hoping to book a couple mini and/or full photo sessions while we're in town, so if you're in/around Wilmington and you want to get some photos snapped, give us a shout! We'll be in town from around the 18th to the 23rd or so! I'll probably talk about that trip daily until it's here because that's just how excited I am.
It's so much fun having friends all over the country, but that also makes visiting/hanging out a little bit harder (not to mention expensive!) We're slowly but surely working our way through our entire friends roster and we're hoping to visit everyone in the upcoming year. A good excuse to travel, right?! Happy Tuesday!

You look beautiful as always! :) The dress is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very nice weekend with your friends! A lot of my friends moved out of our college city and it's still always so sad when someone moves.
Best wishes!

I love the sheer panels on your dress! That bag is all kinds of amazing, as well. Love that your Nana wasn't sure which birthday she was celebrating! So cute.

Gorgeous as always! That dress is really fantastic! I totally know what you mean about seasons affecting your mood. There's enough gorgeous colors in fall and enough daylight to keep me happy, but once we get into winter I gotta put some work into it! That whole leaving for work and coming home from work when it's dark thing really bums me out.
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounds super fun! I'm looking forward to hearing all about it!

I absolutely love your dress, I'm not surprised you get so many compliments on it. It's gorgeous and it really suits you! The seasons definitely affect your mood, and that's why I'm a sun lover - there's nothing worse than getting up in the dark and coming home to the dark. Absolute nightmare, plus in the UK it just rains constantly. I hope you have fun in Wilmington, it will be nice to go back and I can't wait to hear about it! x
ReplyDeleteyou are so incredibly stylish! your tattoos are art! love!

Wilmington is only about 2 1/2 hours away from where I live (Raleigh), but I definitely do not venture out there enough!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous as always and sounds like you had a great labor day weekend! Happy Birthday to your Nana!

That dress is awesome! The sheer parts really "make" it! That color blue really suits you-- I think it has to do with your hair color, maybe? Haha.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand what you mean about the seasons affecting your mood. Seasonal Affective Disorder is a huge problem for me. Since moving north, it's only taken a worse toll on me, having to deal with more snow and so on. Just gotta enjoy fall and hope for an early spring, I guess!

I am loving that bag. And the cutout panels in the bottom of the dress are such a cute detail!
ReplyDeleteLoving all of this!
ReplyDeleteSo lucky! I love Wilmington. While you are there you should stop by Edge of Urge on Market st. It's my favorite little shop to go to whenever we are there and I think you would love it. I hope you have a blast!

Fall is great but I always feel sad to see summer go. Now that we move to sub-saharan Africa we can enjoy summer all we want but still it is hard for me to get into the southern hemisphere fact that we are transitioning to hotter days and not cooler ones although the weather in the night lately does nothing to convince me.
ReplyDeleteKaelah, this dress is just perfection! Ria.x

This dress is so fun and unique- love the pattern! My friends are sprinkled all over the country too, which makes for fun trips but I really miss having more of them around to just hang out with! Hope you had a good time in Wilmington!
