MAY Mixtape : KaelahBee.com
If you know anything about my most recent tv obsession then you'll figure this mixtape out fast. If you're not that invested in my entertainment choices (hey, I don't blame you!), every song is from Hart of Dixie. Ugh! We're one episode away from being fully up to date and I'm so heartbroken that I soon won't have anymore to watch. Honestly, I should've just put a shirtless picture of Wade on the cover... I mean, c'mon, right?! Whoever does the music for HoD does a darn good job in my opinion. It's the perfect blend of country, alt-country, and indie/folk. I'm a sucker for female vocalists so the vast majority of my pickings are just that. Even if you're not a fan of "country music" I think you'll like this selection.

I have a soft spot for Schuyler Fisk and I only now realized that she makes up one-half of the band FM Radio! I've been listening to Mariah McManus on repeat non-stop as of late, too. Another favorite is "Say Hello" by Jesse Thomas!

Unfortunately a majority of these songs weren't available on Grooveshark when I tried making an internationally-friendly playlist. I even tried buying them on iTunes and uploading them myself but no dice! I promise you they're worth looking up if you've got some spare time to make your own little playlist! Next month I'll try to remember to check Grooveshark before finalizing my mixtape.

If you're interested in printing out the DIY CD sleeve, you can CLICK HERE, then right-click to save the image to your desktop. Follow the super simple instructions on the print-out and voila! You'll have a pretty little mix cd to pop into your snail mail! (Speaking of snail mail, peep the bottom of this post if you like sending/receiving mail!)

Speaking of snail mail: I finally opened up a PO Box and I'm getting back on the mail train! I used to "penpal" and write people pretty frequently, but it's been a few years since I've been in the habit. A lot of people expressed interest when I shared my thoughts on Instagram so I finally opened up a PO Box today! Below is my address!
I'm stocked up on pretty stationery, postcards, etc, and I think it'd be fun to share my snail mail happenings with y'all here on LCH. (Just be aware: I'm more of a "doodles, small notes, postcards and trinkets" kind of gal when I send out stuff. You probably won't be getting a 3+ page letter from me! I mean, you already read about me here haha Don't let that discourage you from sending letters though!) Any country, any city/state. Don't be shy! I'd love to be snail mail pals. Let me know if you'll be participating! xo

PS; Y'alls comments on yesterday's post were so awesome! I'm so glad y'all are fired up and on board! All of y'all who have been commenting lately, prepare! I'm popping through your blogs this week! ;)

  2. This sounds great, i love that you do this. I am always listening to the same music because i have no time to find new stuff! Now I just need to buy an external CDRW so that I can burn cds again. There is something about a burned CD that is much more exciting than a playlist on my iphone to me. Thanks!

  3. Snail mail is *the* best! I moved up to the U.P. and away from my Wisconsin friends and family about a year and a half ago. We literally don't have a mailbox, so we had to get a PO Box. Luckily the post office is less than a block away from my house, so it's always fun for me to get out of the house after sitting in my cold, dark office all day and check the mail & find some snail mail! Always bring a smile to the face, amirite?!
Oh my, these are the cutest cats ever. I have a deck and have never seen a stray, but I would *absolutely* do the same thing. In fact, I think you're an angel for feeding them and providing safety for them and they know it which is why they continue to come back. I almost spit out my drink when I read about Lloyd's toupee!!! Hahahaha. He has the neatest markings and sounds like a total sweetheart. Unfortunately I live in the U.P. otherwise I would totally take him! Thanks for being a guardian for these kitty babies ♥

  5. I love your playlist! I may have to download a few of these to add to my playlist.

Snail mail is some of my favorites! I've been thinking about penpals for a while! Maybe I'll drop you a postcard with a great white shark on it from Florida!

  7. Ooh, I love the look of that playlist image with the mint green and yellow! So pretty. I haven't sent or received a letter in so long I'd almost forgotten that was an option! I should get to doing that since I have close friends living across the country. Brainstorming now!

  8. Not gonna lie, I really thought I was the only person in the world who knew about Schuyler Fisk's awesomeness. She is amazing. I love this mix, right up my alley. Have you ever listened to The Wrights? They've got some really chill, folksy harmonies that I think would go right up your alley. I blogged a few of their songs the other day on my music minute. You should check them out, I'm obssesed.

  9. SUCH a good collection of songs!! I love HoD too! I've been thinking long and hard about opening a po box but I started a Postables account instead for the moment so that people can supply me with their addresses and I can send them little lovelies when I want to surprise them :)

    1. haha we live there (currently renovating our house - we moved back here about 2 months ago). it's actually my hometown, too. (i lived there from birth 'til 18 - graduated lchs in 2006). after living in franklin/nashville for 7 years and NYC, it's kind of nice to be back in a small town. my family is still here + mike's is in lawrenceburg (though he's from columbia originally) -- small world! :)

  14. I've had this post 'saved' in my reader for over a week, and I've decided that it's time for me to speak up for once.

Kaelah, I've been reading your blog for over a year now, but I think this is the first time that I've actually commented. It seems weird to want to be penpals with you, considering that you don't know me from a bar of soap. Do you really want to get a letter from a stranger in Australia? If so, I'll put something together. I'm always a bit scared to interact with 'popular' bloggers, because I have this fear that you'll look down on me. But sending and receiving snail mail is fun.

    1. Of course I'd love a letter from you lady! There's nothing to be afraid of - I can't ever imagine why I'd "look down" on you. Just because there's a certain number of readers on my blog doesn't make me any better (or more interesting!) than anyone else!

I'm so glad you decided to comment, Britt! I do hope you take part so I can send you some snail mail back, but even if you don't, I'm just so happy to have you as a reader <3

  15. I definitely agree about heart of dixie's musical choices! I have never been remotely interested in country music until watching heart of dixie and they really do choose a wonderful blend of musical genres. Also, I've been a recently converted Jonah fan but I can still appreciate a shirtless picture of Wade haha ;)
