// Linden Atlas - Eight Months

I'm only two weeks late posting this, but you know, life. Linden turned eight months old on March 23rd and he's been a little hellion ever since! He's crawling, standing, grabbing things he shouldn't possibly be able to reach, and he finally got a hold of the dog food. We take it one day at a time around here! All of these pictures and milestones are from when he was seven months, of course, but it's so crazy how he's already changed so much in just two weeks. I'm honestly not sure how I'm already posting his eight month milestone post! I feel like you don't really understand the concept of time until you have a kid. Maybe I'm biased or jaded or whatever, but time feels so different with a baby around. Even with Toby, it seemed to go much slower. Maybe that's because he came to live with us just after turning three, whereas we've seen Linden evolve since day one. Of course I catch myself looking at Toby and thinking "Who is this teenager?!" haha Six has it's own set of challenges, but six years and eight months... phew! I have my work cut out for me.

At seven months, Linden:
- weighed 19.5 pounds.
- slept through the night twice! 7.5 hours and 9.5 hours (!!!!!!)
- started growing some actual hair! even if it's super wispy still haha
- transitioned into his own room (!) and sleeps in his crib every night
- pulls up on everything and can stand on his own for a few seconds
- got the thumbs up to slowly start introducing dairy again
- was the lucky recipient of 300 ounces of donor milk from a friend (!)

I can't wait to share all of the exciting things happening at eight months, too! I know I'm going to love being able to look back on these monthly posts and remember what the days were like. Seriously, just two weeks late and I've already forgotten most of what happened when he was seven months... Yikes! xo

  4. What a good looking family. Your baby is so adorable. I especially like the one with the hat with the braids! I love his room with the space theme, am wondering if you made that great mobile. Best baby room I've seen in a long while.

  6. please take a moment to check linden's car seat straps. since a rear facing child is likely to slide up in the seat in the case of an accident the straps should start at or below his shoulders and come up and over to best protect him (otherwise they run the risk of sliding up and out of the straps in the case of an accident). i know you're an excellent mother and there are just SO MANY LITTLE DETAILS to check and double check and triple check and this is in no way a judgement on you, i just thought since i noticed that it looks as though his shoulder straps sit above his shoulders i would mention it. i only learned about it when i brought my carseat (and kid) to the fire station to have it checked-- i found it's a bit easier to check the position if you remove the strap protectors first. i was grateful for the information and hope you understand i'm only mentioning it because i know the safety of your family is incredibly important. the sad truth is that car accidents are the leading cause of death in children and a whopping 80- 95% of car seats in our country are used incorrectly. because of my own personal history i just can't let it go unsaid, i'm sorry if this comes off as "sanctimommy" of me but i know your family has a busy spring and summer ahead and will probably spend a lot of time in the car so you want your littles to be as safe as you can assure.

    1. I did! I actually noticed we had them too high a day or two after I posted that photo, but I loved the photo anyway so I posted it here! I definitely appreciate the thoughtful and concerned comment though! I'm definitely not too proud to hear if I might be doing something wrong in terms of my kids' safety like this, so I'm very appreciative when someone kindly points it out! I felt bad about not acknowledging it on the original post but maybe I'll go edit it just for safety!
