Skull City - Kaelah Bee
Remember when a couple of months ago I was worried that I'd never really be a morning person? I was not looking forward to having to wake up at like 6am to get Toby ready for school and out the door... but now it's just the norm. Now I sleep in until 8:30am every so often and wake up feeling drunk off of sleep. That's currently how I'm feeling this morning. Toby is out for Fall Break at school all this week but that really hasn't changed our wake up schedule much. Yesterday we tried doing the whole yard sale bit but uh, it didn't go so well. (Seriously - a lady scoffed at the price of $5 for a pair of brand new cowboy boots! What?!) We made exactly $1... how sad is that?! ha! Nana did really well though so I just did a Kaelah's Closet sale while sitting in the front yard. I listed about 10% of what I intend on listing, so you can still play along and nab something if you'd like! Just watch the @kaelahscloset Instagram account over the next few days! Today we're going to go shopping at the sales rather than having one of our own. I honestly just don't have the patience for throwing a yard sale.

This is the outfit I ended up sporting yesterday. I had asked for some opinions on what to pair this dress with a couple of weeks ago because I wanted to make it brighter and more colorful. I ended up opting for literally all black and gold... and I kind of love it. I'm not big on accessories just by nature. I guess I've always considered my tattoos to be my accessories ya know? Not yesterday. Yesterday everything came flying off the shelves. Skull ring? Check! Bangles galore? Check! Statement necklace? Check! Brooch? Check! Studded clutch? Check! It's a bit much probably, but I'm so into it. You can't really tell that one of my bangles has skulls on it, but it does. And this skull ring is one of my favorite ever. I even opted to match my plugs to my outfit - you can kind of see the vintage tattooed lady in the second photo up there. Skulls on skulls on skulls over here! I even finally dusted off my Jeffrey Campbell spike flats! Those things have been sitting on my shelf for months (like 8 or 9) because I just couldn't figure out how to wear them. They're still a bit ridiculous, but if not now, when? The hardest part about wearing this outfit: keeping the dog hair off of me. That's seriously my #1 accessory. I don't care how many lint rollers I own, I will never not have dog hair all over my person. Good thing I love those mouth-breathers.

More on this dress! So here is a detailed look at what it looks like without a cardigan. It's a strapless dress with a little bit of ruffle at the bust and hem. It even has bows on the tiny little pockets in the front (!!!). It comes with some removable straps which I'll be popping on there for other wears since I'm a bit small-busted. But my favorite thing about it? It almost feels like it has built in shapewear! That might sound strange, but I think it's just the fabric it's made out of. It has a subtle stretch, but it also "holds it all in" ha! I'm all about me some Spanx so I loved the way the dress fit. I'm such a huge fan of Sourpuss clothing so I was totally pumped to see them at MAGIC back in August! They're definitely a favorite of mine and I hope I get to see future collections, too! So many fun prints and silhouettes on their dresses. If you've never seen their stuff, you totally need to pop over to their site and check them out. I love their dresses! They also carry other brands in their online shop and a few of my current favorite dresses are: this dress covered in bats! - this lucy fur cat dress (same dress as mine, different pattern!) - this space cadet dress (that top!) - horror gal dress - this 'i heart cupcakes' dress (so girly!). Have you fallen in love yet?! haha!

I'm crossing my fingers we find a bunch of rad stuff at Oktoberfest today! We're hoping that we'll beat a lot of the people out there since so many are at work right now. Saturday gets CRAZY with people so I want to find all of the good stuff first! We don't have too much in mind for what we'd like to find, but last year I found a baby pig and almost convinced Mike to let me bring it home... I mean... a baby pig! I'd love to find some more unicorn knick knacks for our office. I told Mike I was loosely basing the look and feel of the office on unicorns... because unicorns! But we'll see! Happy Friday! xo

  11. Love Sourpuss AND I love Jeffery Campbell, so this is an obvious win, for me. You look like a little rockabilly queen. Or a classy, chic goth. Either way, I'm in love with it.

  13. So many gorgeous details in this outfit, yet none too big or overpowering since you kept a limited color palette. Great look!
