After oh so much debate, 6+ months of my natural brown and another 2+ months of attempting to get my red hair back to the hue I had, I'm happy to say I finally have! Huzzah! It's been a long road, that's for sure! From white roots to basketball orange hair to a muddy red brown that didn't make any sense with the intended color (Copper, c'mon!), I reverted back to my old hair dye and it was a success! I know it'll continue to get even brighter each and every time I dye it (love that!), but I'm really really thrilled to have my old red mop back!
Red hair is exhausting to keep up with but I feel the most me with red hair. I opted to go back red now because I think I want brown hair for our wedding next year and I knew I couldn't have brown hair a whole 18 months without going crazy. Might as well get it out of my system now! The picture above makes it look really bright red but it's honestly just a medium brightness (for now). Time to take stock in Sally Beauty Supply! haha I think red hair is oh so perfect for Autumn.
These are also my new glasses! I got two pairs from Coastal Contacts (here are the first pair!) and these are also so very Autumn appropriate. They're tortoise shell frames with light pink (!!!) sides! They even have a little heart cut out at the end piece behind your ear! I'm kind of in love with them.
In other news -- Our Chicago trip was SO much fun! I'll be going back through all of that in the next couple of days. I didn't take any pictures (doh!) but there's still plenty to blog about! Including our big Ikea haul, sweet Salvation Army finds, and Renegade of course! The next few days will be crazy with me trying to catch up on emails (I have several hundred from just 6 days alone! Eek!) and finishing up a few design projects. AND expanding Hive + Honey's accessory line! So happy to be in this place. I just want to create, create, create!
But for now we're (read: Mike) going to build my new work desk (!!!) and then head down to pick up our sweet little munchkins (I've missed them so much!). Then we're cooking dinner for Brian and Christina! What a wonderful Tuesday! xo
Do you dye your hair for the different seasons? What color are you rocking for the Autumn months?!
PS; I'll have a couple of blonde-haired outfits left to post soon too!
Oh my, you look positively adorable with the red hair!
ReplyDeleteI love those glasses. I need to order more, I've had the same pair since freshman year of college.....5 years ago! They are purple & fun but I just need a change!
ReplyDeleteLove the red hair too. I recently bought a wig (thanks for the inspiration!) because I love my short hair, but sometimes want long hair.
also, you rock! but you already know that! Happy Tuesday!
Looking lovely, I really like those glasses.
ReplyDeletei'm digging the new hair! too bad my work would kill me if i did anything too fun with mine. :/
ReplyDelete<3 jorjiapeach
I totally dye my hair by season, I usually go between medium brown to black for fall and winter, more of a reddish hue for spring and blonder in the summer. I wish I could put bright colors in my hair but as a policy analyst-well-let's just say that wouldn't go over to well.
ReplyDeleteAlso I might be in love with your glasses. I just ordered a pair from Warby parker, I was going to order a second from there but I might be reconsidering :)
You're awesome lady!
Your red looks great. The red dye I've been using for close to 10 years recently got discontinued, so I'm trying to find a new red and it's impossible and makes me want to cry. I dyed mine Monday night and it's so dark. The stuff you use, do you have to have a professional card to get it from Sallys? If not, would you be so kind as to let me in on the secret of which one it is? Pretty please?
ReplyDeleteLove the red so SO much!! -- I'm a change my hair color type of girl too...I recently had it dyed a dark brown but I'm already itching to go strawberry blonde for the fall. :)
ReplyDeleteYour red looks amazing. The red I've used for the past nearly 10 years recently got discontinued and now I'm on the hunt for a new red and it's not going so great. I dyed my hair Monday and it's waaaay darker than I like.
ReplyDeleteThe dye you're using, is it one you have to have the professional credentials for to buy it at Sally's? I've never bought hair dye there because I've just assumed you need to be a professional.
love the red! i've been wanting to try a dark red for a while now...maybe this is the inspiration i need! ;)
ReplyDeleteyou look beautiful as always! sounds like a perfect tuesday to me...i'm stuck indoors doing homework today :/ blah!
YOU LOOK WONDERFUL :) Im loving your new glasses also <3 Super cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! I've had mine red for about a year and a half now. I usually keep it in the copper family, but last week I had a much darker shade done for fall. I agree, red is perfect for this time of year!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous! What type of dye do you use? I have long daaark hair. and I've been coveting red locks for years! haven't had the guts to do it yet and not sure how to go about it to get that beautiful bright color!
ReplyDelete<3 thank you!
sooo pretty and intense! love those glasses too :-)
ReplyDeletemy hair is naturally light brown, but it's almost platinum right now -- can't give summer up, yet!
I'll probably get some lowlights for fall/winter along with a killer haircut.

Your hair is not as bright as in the picture at all! I kinda wish I could pull off red hair but that will probably never ever happen haha
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to meet you this weekend btw!!! :)
I used to be bolder with dye, but now with less time to manage it I dye it just a shade lighter than my natural blonde because it brings out more dimensions than going undyed. Plus then if I can't get around to dying it for awhile the roots are almost unnoticeable!
ReplyDeleteHow ironic! I just attempted to dye my hair red as well! It was not exactly the color I was going for though. Back to Sally's for me!
ReplyDeleteI think we have VERY similar or the same glasses! Where did you get them!? =)
ReplyDeleteThe red hair suits you so well! I think it looks great. As for me, I usually color my hair dark dark brown for fall and winter and a little lighter in the summer. I've already colored my hair for fall and it makes the season more real.
ReplyDeleteMackenzie
Looks really pretty darling :)
ReplyDeleteI think the red looks great! I recently dyed my hair. I tweeted about it and blogged about it. You can check the post out here if you want:http://chimerabellem.blogspot.com/2011/09/i-dyed-my-hair.html :) Wahoo,a new work desk!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I have been wanting red hair too for Fall. Really different from the boring black that I'm used to, but I want to say "Red Hair Don't Care!" as well! Haha. I have always loved red hair, but too scared to do so. I've seen some Asians folks with red hair and they looked rather good(not tooooo out there) so I'm gonna go for it! I'm too scared to DIY it, so I'm saving pennies for a professional. Hope they don't charge me too much to strip out my dark roots. Love those glasses too! I'm gonna scoot over there and check it out. Also, I still do not know how you can manage all the emails that you get. PHEW! You are SUPER WOMAN. :)
ReplyDeleteLove those glasses! So cute! And the red looks absolutely wonderful! I've been wanting to do something new with my hair but still trying to find the perfect color to change it too!
ReplyDeleteLittle Lady Little City
I was just telling my boyfriend that I dye my hair for the seasons. He thought I was nuts. I just dyed mine red too, but it didn't take like I wanted it to. I'll have to try again.
ReplyDeleteI love the red hair and the glasses.
You are so gorgeous Kaelah, no matter what color your hair is! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you guys made it home safely and I'm glad you had a swell time :)!
I have officially decided to dye my hair a redish/black tint this fall. I'm suuuuuuuuper stoked because right now it's this beachy/red/brown/blonde color.. like i've been swimming in pools and sea water all summer (even though the only water i've been in contact with was the shower!!) i don't think it's "me".

Oh my gosh you look so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you read this comment but what color would you recommend for my skin color?
Or should I just stick natural?

I love your red hair! I've been contemplating going red with mine. I typically go a little darker for fall.. last year, I went with auburn red lowlights in my platinum blonde. I'm a hairstylist so I'm all about changing it up and having fun :)
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks amazing, girly! Love that shade of red. I totally change my hair for the seasons, and currently I've been rocking a shade kind of similar to yours- you can check it out on my blog :D

I just went back from blue to black for my best friends wedding, but after the black fades (thank goodness for 28 wash outs) I will be a bright red as well.
ReplyDeleteI feel red is a nice warm color for the colder months. It gives a nice glow to the persons face :}
Ur hair looks so good red! I know u say brown for the wedding but this color would look stunning n pics. :)
ReplyDeletesince I have bright pink hair I usually just stick w it. Changing up the streak colors with the seasons.

Being a redhead is totally fun. I've been a redhead for 14 years (since I was 16!!) and I've only gone back to my natural color once, and I hated it!! I feel better as a redhead. I do go different shades here and there depending on the season.
ReplyDeleteYou look GREAT as a redhead. I want to see more pictures of you with that color.
Red is beyond exhausting to keep! I suppose not any worse though than blonde! I started my venture from black hair to platinum back in Nov. of last year and I have finally gotten to the lightness I want.... now that it's fall and I should be going dark again!
ReplyDeleteI love your hair! I have naturally red hair myself and I absolutely LOVE it! Nothing makes you stand out in a crown more than being a ginger ;)
ReplyDeleteLove me some red!! I recently added bright red highlights and love it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful with red hair. What styling products & washes do you use to keep the red lasting?
The glasses are super cute too. ;)
I really love and am envious of your hot red locks!! If I were brave enough, and felt like I could commit to all the hard work, I would be right there with you. Instead I am settling for a more natural looking red. I am long overdue for a touch up. Thanks for inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteYou look fab no matter WHAT you do but I must admit I LOVE THE RED! prolly bc I want it, but am afraid I can't pull it off! LOVELOVELOVE! And those glasses? perfect for you!
ReplyDeleteLove how you gotta preplan what kinda hair you want for the wedding. I was the same way! I had went back natural black for awhile but then was like even though its NATURAL it's just not "me" so I got my chunks put back in and that's what I had for the wedding :)
I'd LOVE to go the color red you have now, with darker lowlights in em!!
I love the hair! I had red hair last year for fall, and loved it. It was so hard to keep up with, but totally worth the upkeep. And those glasses are adorable!

Can't really dye my hair anymore, but I changed up my blog for fall! Coastal contacts is awesome and they have free pairs sometimes.
ReplyDeletePositively gooorgeous hair, as always my dear. Love it. And the glasses are tres cute as well. I need to get my hair dyed again.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome you're getting a new work desk!
I love red hair so much, I think it looks good on everyone.
ReplyDeleteI tried to dye my hair years a few years back, the color didn't take. Since my hair is jet black I'd have to strip it first then dye. And I'm to lazy to do that, lol.
I Love your red hair! I was just searching the other night for ways to go red (from dark, dark brown) without bleaching. Like you, I think fall and red hair are best friends.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Dig the new glasses! I recently ordered my first pair of glasses from coastal contacts because you mentioned them. I got black Derek Cardigan's and they're supremely dorky. Love it!
Your hair looks amazing! Great glasses, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely hair you got there! it seems like everyone's going red this season... I'm sticking with my same ol', but only because it's too much of a hassle to dye my hair during college (and can you say dyed dorm showers? Ew!)
ReplyDelete<3 Linda
definitely not a seasonal hair, I would say mine changes with moods, I was bright pink this summer, then I went black n white, now I got shoreter bangs again and turquoise n black <2 im loving how bright this looks, congrats on getting ur red back!!
ReplyDeleteLove that shade of red! So pretty. I've been thinking of trying red sometime myself (it's one color I've never tried).

nice hair! :) i love it! :)
ReplyDeleteLove Simple Green
You look gorgeous in every hair color! I like that you're going brunette for your wedding. =] I'm 23 and I have virgin hair. I probably won't dye it until I start going gray.
ReplyDeleteYou're a busy, busy girl! I hope you can catch up on everything quickly (for your sanity) =]. Do you even have time to read blog comments?!
Gorgeous! I love the glasses! And your hair color is soo lovely. I've been contemplating doing a color such as this, great choice.
ReplyDeleteGlad Chicago was fun!

@ Moe: that's so awesome! i'll have to pop over and check it out! xo
ReplyDelete@ LoriLynn: i highly recommend CC! They do random "free glasses" days so check them out! Better than a $100 pricetag! ;)
@ Dyannnnnna: No license needed! It's L'oreal Expressions "For Dark Hair Only" line in Red Fire! If you don't have dark hair then I don't recommend it! It'll turn your hair orange! xo
@ R.Wiles: Coastal Contacts!
@ a capella coda: l'oreal for dark hair only! i talk about it in a few videos on youtube and my faq page!
@ Jamie: sometimes I forget to respond but I read and cherish absolutely EVERY single one, i promise! :D xoxo
you look cute with red hair
ReplyDeleteGlasses suit your hair so well :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with those glasses! I have red hair as well for over 3 years now. I've thought about switching to brown every now and then but everyone tells me how well red suits me.
ReplyDeleteRed for life! <3

You look great with red hair!! Ive been experimenting with broght colours lately....im too scared to make a big change to my blond hair as it'll be so hard to get it back blond again :( Im about to put bright pink in my hair next week! x
ReplyDeleteThe red hair looks really good on you! I had red hair for the summer, and with red I mean really really bright red. Now it is purple.
ReplyDeletethe red is totally yours, when I saw your pic for the first time it was your hair that was the biggest magnet to me! love it
ReplyDeleteI don't have balls to try red even I really love it and would want it. so my color is golden blond
the red really suits you. i'm debating on dying mine red again but i know within a matter of months it will be my signature brown again. keep doing what you're doing! xo laura
ReplyDeleteYour red hair looks great! Red is my favorite hair color ever. I feel like it really stands out. Plus, it looks so nice with traditional autumn colors.
ReplyDeletei love you with red hair, that's how I "knew you"!
