BUST - days 1 & 2

obviously my sincere attempt at updating every day has unfortunately been foiled by the exhaustion and physical exertion on my body thanks to my lovely internship. though i will not complain, i have loved every single scary-as-balls, stressful, busy busy busy, panic-inducing moment of it thusfar. BUST is an amazing publication and the women of the office are incredible. walking around barefoot, burping in the middle of the day, candy sprawled out on the intern table and all that jazz. its amazing. my first day went great. did a lot of pick ups. had to face my slight fear of the city at large and just go for it. i took the subway all over, went to some amazing PR companies and showrooms, was in possession of the most incredible clothing, and i resized 54 ads for the Bust Store [twice! so 108!] and yadda yadda yadda. i was so beat by 6pm i went straight to chipotle on my way home and got a veggie burrito, put on my pjs an didnt leave bed except for to take a hot bath. serious. my roommate did the same thing. we were exhausted. ugh. today was the same thing. lots more pickups, perusing magazines from the 40's-70's looking fr a specific type of photo to no avail, lots of soreness, etc. ill be working 3 days a week so im going ot work tomorrow too, and have friday off. that way i can get in a little shopping [found so many cute thrift stores on my pick ups!] and then hopefully see Mae play at The Gramercy Theater that night.

tonight i talked to alex for a little over an hour on the phone. hes comig ot visit in 2 weeks! very excited about that. our adventures will be grand. then i talked to jamie on the phone for a little over an hour and a half. had half of a veggie burrito for dinner and here i am. laying in bed, sleeping soon. i think once this weekend rolls around ill have time to get more photos. i think i might venture up to times square for hte street market on sunday, so that'll provide many a' photo :)

i'm so in love with this city. i feel like i fit in. its wondeful. it honestly feels like a second home. but i sure do miss my momma :P i can't wait to be here full-time! nashville, you've got competition!

oh oh oh oh oh I ALMOST RAN SMACK INTO ASHLEY OLSEN TODAY! yeah. freaking awesome. she was incognito with her black hoodie and sweat pants. loved it. amazing.

and i found a place with THE BEST COFFEE EVER! and even better... a 16oz coffee is only NINETY CENTS! ugh i love life and i love new york!

i'm in the city!

so sorry for my absence! i haven't had internet [aside from my iphone & sidekick] since arriving in nyc, but i solved all of that with a quick trip to staples in union square and acquired an ethernet cable.. now i'm back on the internets. huzzah!

i didnt sleep at all saturday night. instead i curled my hair and then went to the pond at about 1:30am to see justin. hung out with some people for about an hour and then headed home to finish up my packing. the parents picked me up at 4am and off to the airport we went! my mom, poor girl, cried her little heart out at the security line. she got in line with me and wouldnt leave until i had been cleared and she couldnt go any farther haha needless to say i've talked to her about 9437893479 times a day :P

its been a whirlwind since flying in yesterday morning. teh flight went smoothly [i slept the whole time]. it was nice little 1.5 hour nap but i've had this hellacious cough. got my bags and got the "taxi" aka van.. get this... those jerks charged me $70! NOT doing that when i leave. anyhow, got into my apartment and met my roommate. her name is alyssa and she seems really sweet. she goes to school at Auburn and is from Pittsburgh, shes interning with Michael Kors. how fun! so i get moved in, blah blah blah, met a girl from Facebook that I was talking to, go grocery shopping and get settled in, took a 1 hr power nap and hit the city. i perused most of union square, all around lower 2nd avenue and all that jazz, went by BUST to make sure i can navigate my way there tomorrow [its literally only 3 blocks away!]. went to urban outfitters in the east village [amazing!] i came home rather early [9pm!] and showered, ate and got settled. i was laying in bed by 10 and stayed on the phone with Alex and Casey until midnight. slept until 9am, ate breakfast and set on for the day. i walked through chinatown, the bowery and st marks row. st marks was really neat. there were literally 12 tattoo parlors on the one block of street. but i want friends in the city so we can go back and shop! jenny owen youngs is playing wednesday night at the bowery ballroom so i hope i get a chance to check that out. she's amazing and i missed her on tuesday when she was in nashville. i also did some thrifting in the east village. i picked up the latest copies of BUST, Lula and Nylon, went to a park [read: cemetary ha!] in the east village and read for about an hour and a half. it was so good to relax! and then i came back home to get my internet working. brittany came by [the girl from facebook] and i may go out with her and her roommate later for happy hour, we'll see. i think my roommate might tag along too. it'd be nice ot meet more people in the building. i like this waking up early thing.

i start my internship tomorrow. im so excited because just READING BUST makes me feel empowered. imagine WORKING there! ahhhh! Lula had so many great editorial photographs this issue so i cut out some and im going to hang them up over my bed so it'll feel less... blah. haha

ill get photos up soon! i havent taken in.. i know. i do this all the time. promise photos and then never come forth but whatevz. we'll see! theres five girls in our apartment, its teeeeny tiny, but at least we have 2 bathrooms haha.

here are a couple [crappy iphone] photos from yesterday. i havne't had a chance to take my camera out in the city yet!

my side of the room. its messy and so boring still, but im working on changing that!

the itty bitty little tiny kitchen! the door to the left is my bedroom. then on the other side of the wall where the fridge there are two closets and one of the bathrooms.
the view from our window. [we're on the 10th floor]
the intersection of 3rd avenue and 14th street from our window
